How to get people interested in your online site…offline

September 5th, 2011 posted by admin

The internet: with the way the world-wide-web is now, it’s possible to look back at the last ten years and honestly wonder how the world existed before it. It’s our answer to anything, our library at our finger-tips, and, on top of that, it’s an incredibly powerful tool for everyone – whether they are self-employed or the owner of a multi-national company.

But despite the power of the internet, there is undoubtedly still something to be said for advertising offline as well. We’re by no means suggesting that you focus your advertising in the form of flyers, but we are saying that the personal touch will never go out of fashion – people will always appreciate that you went to the trouble.

Consider advertising your site in newspapers and magazines

Here are a few tried and trusted hints and tips. They worked for many others…why couldn’t they work for you?

  1. Direct marketing: let’s say you’re the owner of a microfilm scanning company. The firm is small and specialises in both scanning documents for others, and restoring old machines to their former glory. By using direct marketing, you can capitalise on the nostalgia of the past by using beautiful colour photos depicting these timeless machines – the benefit being that people are likely to glance at this as it comes through the door, rather than just deleting the email there and then. Include a stunning headline, make sure you target your mail appropriately, and you’re sure to stand out from companies with purely an online presence. Be sure to include an envelope so they can easily get in touch, too.

  2. Flyers: flyers used to be a great way of getting the word out, and differ slightly from direct marketing. They are still a great way to get the word out, but be careful: many leaflets get delivered to companies every day – if you want to stand out you need to make sure that yours is completely unique and not trying too hard to sell something.

  3. Consider advertising your site in newspapers and magazines (especially those which are read people who love what you do). This might sound odd, but you’d be surprised how many people have success this way. It all adds up to the feeling of a well-rounded company who know what they are talking about and are also fun and approachable.

Following these simple hints is sure to make an impact on your web presence. It may not happen straight away, but when it does it could prove to be a valuable asset.
